Music makes the people come together, yeah (right)
Posted in Music at October 4th, 2008 ()Recently I went to a concert, probably the biggest I have ever been to. Madonna at Wembley stadium.
I booked the tickets (most expensive I have ever bought) about two months before the concert.
I arrived at Wembley about 2 hours before the concert, because I had arena tickets and I wanted to be as close to the stage as possible (I am short). But I had to receive my tickets first, about 20 minutes in a line.
Then I tried to find my way to the gate, and get in another line. I was expecting that, so no problem. The problem is we should have started to move, because the concert was supposed to start in half an hour or so. But no, the concert was going to be 2 hours late, without prior notice. Even when we waited nobody told us why it was taking so long.
After and hour we started to move. They checked our bags, no idea why, my bag was pretty big and I had a million things in there, could have brought two guns easily, and maybe I should after all. But when did the human rights change and all of a sudden anyone can search your personal belongings? Hmmm, I missed that part. But we are used to it and it happens everywhere, so we do not complain anymore.
Anyway, we made it to the arena. Paul Oakenfold started to play. I thought he was a good dj. All I heard was recycled and badly remixed songs, for the sake of remixing. It felt like ages too, it was terribly boring. Still no Madonna anywhere to be seen.
When my patience wore out, and when we were discussing if we should leave, the lights went down. Two hours or maybe more than expected. If the ticket was not so overpriced we would have left. But it felt like throwing money which we work for out of the window.
I went to that concert not to hear her, I hate her songs, and I hate her too. But I saw her previous concert and it was really a piece of art, the directing and the lights, the dancers, the choreography. Confessions tour was something really worth to watch, even though it was Madonna. So I expected something a bit like it.
But no luck there either. All i saw was an easily portable show, a snatch and nothing more. But even worst, I had to hear her too. Her voice, to the songs that were not pre-recorded was simply awful. The show was not a show, and no crazy choreography or directing or anything. At three of four songs she wanted to convince the world that she could be a rock singer. I never thought she could be so stupid. She was born a pop singer and she will die one. No voice, no talent, no respect for the people that pay here to play diva. But it’s not her fault, it’s ours. She just sells a crappy product which we all buy for ages now. Not the first one, certainly not the last one.
And when she finished, all we ever saw was a a Game Over at the screen. No goodbye, no thank you. Needless to say that I saw nothing at all. Well I could see the people around me, but not even the screen.
I wondered about the people cheering for her. Are they all stupid? Maybe they don’t want to admit that they payed so much money and spent their time to a crappy concert? Are they all sheep waiting to be skinned? What the fuck is wrong with you people? I thought it was the British, who are brought up polite but sheep. Then I saw a post at a Greek forum and an article and how everyone was impressed and amazed by her wonderful performance. Some wrote that this was the best concert they have ever been to. And some of them went to Bjork one month before. And Depeche Mode one year ago.
The only fun I had in this concert was when two guys fought each other and at the same time we saw something similar at the video wall. Only the guys at the video were wearing uniforms and wrestling gloves.
I don’t recall this happening at London, it might have though, but in Greece when she sang “miles away”, she wanted people to sing along. But it’s a new song and they didn’t know the lyrics. So she got pissed and shouted: Sing motherfuckers.
So we pay THIS? I paid this bitch to be arrogant and call me motherfucker? As far as I am concerned SHE fucks everyone. And people find this what? Cool? I heard a girl in front of me at London discussing the delay: “She is a diva, a star, we know, but two hours?” A diva? A star? Diva in Latin means godess, Madonna is for sure no godess, just a rich slut. A star? I want to find the person who invented this whole star system and slap him. What makes a star? They are just ordinary people, and their job is to entertain us. And WE pay them to do it. They are our bitches, our employees. Nothing more, nothing less. Just wake up and realize the power you have. And I guarantee you, you will never see crappy concerts or bitchy attitudes again…
